Day 9 - Transformation

The movie - It’s a Wonderful Life, is my favorite movie of all time. It touches my heart in so many ways. From the nostalgic Christmas celebrations to having your own guardian angel (especially one like Clarance). However, the part that encourages me the most is to see George Bailey find his way out of the most desperate situation you could ever imagine.
I recently learned (from a Guidepost article entitled Jimmy Steward Flight From Fear) that this situation became somewhat true to life for this endeared actor. The article shares that this was the first movie that Jimmy Stewart made after returning from four years of service as a bomber pilot in World War II. Because the death rate of bomber pilots was so high, Stewart’s father sent him a letter as he left for Europe. In the letter was a copy of the full chapter of Psalm 91. With the Psalm he also shared - “The thing that takes the place of fear and worry is the promise in these words.” After reading Psalm 91 one night during the war Jimmy Stewart wrote, “I placed in God’s hands the squadron I was leading. And as the psalmist promised, I felt myself borne up”
Psalm 91:1, as well as the entire psalm, has been called God’s 911. It helps us to understand that God’s promise of protection is always there for us when we talk to Him in prayer. Prayer is like a heartfelt conversation with a close friend who truly understands you. It doesn’t just send your worries and hopes into the atmosphere. As you talk to God, your heart finds peace and your faith grows stronger.
During this Christmas season may you find not just a story, but a way to make it special all year long.
Ps. 91:1 NKJV - He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Ps. 91:1 NKJV
