Day Five & Six: Light

Day Five - Light Source

Day Six - Spreading the Light

A scientific fact: darkness is the absence of light.  It’s not a thing in itself, but the result of something missing.

We often start the day by turning on a light to avoid the dark. While Christmas is considered joyful, it can also be difficult for those facing financial strain, time pressure, or loss. Grief and worry may make the season feel dark.

Our Light Source

We know that physical light brings clarity. It brings comfort and it brings delight.  We light candles. We string bulbs along rooftops and trees.  We gather around campfires—not just for warmth, but for the glow that reminds us: we are not alone.

The Christmas song - In the Bleak Midwinter, sounds like a pretty depressing title.  However, in reality it is all about hope!  For example, the second verse says...

“In the bleak midwinter, a stable-place sufficed;

The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.”

See, even God didn’t break the budget at Christmas!  Jesus was born in a humble stable.  Plus, the Christmas story is not a fairy tale.  It is the beginning of how Jesus came into the world to save and help us grow our light. As a matter of fact, one of His names is The Helper / Holy Spirit. That is so He can be with us anytime we want.  Isaiah 9:6 explains:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus covers all the bases to help us experience a Very Merry Christmas.  The best part is that this joy can continue beyond the holiday. All you need to do is welcome Him into your life and learn about Him.
